Mission

DUOC Defib4 PR.JPGConsistent with the mission of Dominican University of California, the Department of Nursing educates baccalaureate and master's level nurses who are prepared to provide professionally competent, culturally sensitive, and ethically grounded nursing care, who respect the innate dignity of human life, demonstrate leadership through multidisciplinary collaborations, and model good citizenship within a global community.

Accreditation

Board of Registered Nursing

  • The first Dominican nursing program was approved by the California Board of Nursing in 1983.
  • California Board of Registered Nursing approves the school with most recent approval 2008 and interim approval scheduled for February 2012.

Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education

  • In 2004 both the master's of science in nursing and the baccalaureate of science in nursing programs received accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education confirming the substance and high quality of the Department's programs. Both programs have been approved for accreditation through the year 2016.

We have a very active chapter of STT. Meetings take place monthly with spectacular speakers sharing the latest information on current professional nursing issues. Our chapter president, Ms. Alicia Bright RN MSN CNS, provides leadership for our graduate and undergraduate students towards regional, national and international honor society involvement. Please contact our Nursing Department for information on our monthly speaker series and on our spring induction ceremony.
