Will Fowler, Faculty-in-Residence
The Faculty-in-residence program allows Technology Integrators working in the K-12 schools to work part-time with Dominican faculty. This creates a two-way flow of information and expertise between Dominican and its K-12 partners. This program has allowed Dominican faculty to better understand the needs of the K-12 educators whom they serve and, as such, has allowed them to better tailor their technology integration activities to the needs of their pre-service students.
Most Division of Education full and part-time faculty are involved in developing and piloting web-enhanced courses in curriculum, literacy, and language acquisition using a course website in conjunction with credential classes.
Technology in Credential Classes
Pre-service teachers are enrolled in credential classes that are targeted as points of training for infusing technology in the curriculum. All students receive training on using email, Microsoft Office tools, and additional tools included in Blackboard.com. Students learn to access links, search the ERIC database, and participate in threaded discussions as part of 6 hours of training in an all day session of "Using Technology in the Classroom."
