Grants and Special Projects
The four pillars of Dominican tradition are Study, Reflection, Service and Community, so scholarship is of particular importance to Dominican faculty. The School of Education is constantly looking for scholastic opportunities for both faculty and students, and has been immensely successful in their pursuit.
Currently there are several notable achievements in the School of Education.
Office of Special Education (OSEP) Federal Grant Program
The OSEP grant offers scholarship opportunities for students wishing to pursue a career in Special Education. The goal is to diversify Special Education professionals, and to prepare stronger professionals in the field by educating them in both Special Education and General Education studies.
Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to use Technology (PT3)
The PT3 grant brought the study of technology into the Dominican credential program. Technology in the Classroom is such an important part of teaching today so it is very exciting for Dominican to make sure our students are fully prepared in this area.
Courage to Teach
Courage to Teach® is a program of quarterly retreats for the personal and professional renewal of teachers, administrators, and others in the public schools.
Media and Lectures
Video and audio productions including Dominican lectures and guest speakers, as well as local TV productions sponsored by the School of Education and Soroptomist of Novato.
