At Dominican’s Ukiah Center, teacher candidates are supervised by practitioners who have expertise in elementary, secondary, and special education. University supervisors are carefully selected, oriented to the supervisory role, trained in supervision, and certified. They are experienced in either teaching the subject(s) of the class and/or grade level. Each supervisor also serves the important role of liaison between the university and the schools and districts in which they supervise teacher candidates. They are knowledgeable about each school’s culture, and play an essential role in the success of each teacher candidate whom they supervise.
