The Ukiah Center was established in 1984, and today hundreds of the Center’s graduates are teaching in local schools in Mendocino, Lake, and Sonoma counties.

Our mission is to train teachers to become student-centered educators who ground their practice in current educational theory, work collaboratively, exhibit sensitivity to culture and community, and demonstrate continuous professional development.

Why Ukiah Center?

The Ukiah Center is conveniently located at the Mendocino County Office of Education. For almost thirty years, we have been offering teacher education programs to aspiring teachers from Medocino, Sonoma and Lake counties. We are known for our innovative and highly-regarded curriculum, high-quality instruction, small class sizes, personalized attention, and a supportive learning community. Our students learn from instructors who are classroom experts and know local school, district, and county cultures.

The Ukiah Center offers following teacher credential programs:

• California State Preliminary Multiple Subject Credential Program
• California State Preliminary Single Subject Credential Program
• California State Education Specialist: Mild/Moderate Preliminary Credential Program
• Dual Credential Programs
• Master of Science in Education (Curriculum & Instruction and Interdisciplinary)

All teaching credential programs are offered in two formats: a two semester student teaching credential program and a four-semester internship program. Classes are held during the afternoon and on weekends to meet the needs of working teachers or adults who are changing careers.
