
All candidates for the Multiple Subject Preliminary, Single Subject Preliminary, and Education Specialist: Preliminary Mild/Moderate Credentials follow both the public school and University calendars. Supervised student teaching and internship placements are available in Marin, Sonoma, San Francisco, Alameda and West Contra Costa counties.
The student teaching option allows you to complete your coursework over a two, three or four semester period. You begin the program with professional coursework and field experience, which includes at least 60 hours of observation. In you final semester, you will continue with professional coursework and full-time student teaching, under the direction of an experienced teacher. The Student Teaching Option is available in San Rafael and Ukiah. The Student Teaching Option is offered in two formats, accelerated and transition.
The internship option allows candidates who are teaching in participating school districts on an internship credential to complete their Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Educational Specialist course work. Candidates who meet requirements for the internship option may use their full-time teaching experience in lieu of supervised student teaching to obtain their preliminary credential. Candidates must teach as an intern for a minimum of two semesters. This program typically takes four semesters to complete. The internship option is available for Multiple-Subject, Single-Subject and Education Specialist placements in San Rafael and Ukiah.
