Dominican graduates are student-centered educators who use a wide variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of California's diverse school-age population.  We expect our graduates to play an active role in making a positive difference in their students' lives.

The Education Department at Dominican University of California offersa Bachelor's Degree program in Liberal Studies/Teacher Education, a Dual Degree/Dual Teaching Credential program, a Master's of Science in Education and a number of Teaching Credential programs at our two locations, San Rafael and Ukiah.

BA Liberal Studies/Teacher Education

The Blended Liberal Studies/Teacher Preparation program is designed for candidates who have decided, early on, that they would like to be an elementary school teacher. This major is multidisciplinary and leads to both a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and a Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential in four years. The Program integrates a variety of perspectives including humanities, science, mathematics, social science, and pedagogy. As a result, the Program equips candidates to make a difference–not just as teachers, but also as members of society.

We also offer a Dual Degree/Dual Credential program.  Completion of this program leads to both a BA in Liberal Studies and MS in Education degree as well as a Preliminary Multiple Subject and Preliminary Education Specialist Mild/Moderate credential.

Dominican Univeristy of California is regionally accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). All of our teacher preparation programs are approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).
