Letter from Chairperson

Thank you for your interest in Dominican University of California's Master's program in Counseling Psychology.
We believe our program provides students with an outstanding opportunity to become proficient in the major theoretical orientations in the counseling field. We also introduce students to innovative and alternative ways of providing counseling for others. Students are encouraged to discover a theoretical orientation that matches their own interests and personal style.
Our faculty who teach clinical courses are all successfully practicing psychotherapists. They are gifted teachers and mentors who prize their work as faculty. Students in the program are cooperative and supportive of one another as they progress through the program and often continue to network and support each other as they develop their careers in counseling. The alumni of the department are known and respected for their professionalism and high degree of academic knowledge and clinical skills.
Fieldwork experience is an integral part of the training at Dominican and provides the opportunity to utilize and integrate the skills you have learned in the program. In a variety of placements in the greater Bay Area, our students are sought after as trainees because they are known and respected for the breadth and quality training that the Dominican program provides.
We look forward to welcoming you to our program. We hope that you will be joining the ranks of our many alumni who have found satisfaction and pleasure in their counseling career.
Sincerely,
Charles R. Billings
