Paul Hawken is an environmentalist, entrepreneur, journalist, and author. Starting at age 20, he dedicated his life to sustainability and changing the relationship between business and the environment. In his newest book, "The Blessed Unrest", Paul tells the enigmatic history of the global environmental movement, comprised of over 1,000,000 organizations. Hawken draws upon his years of leadership in this movement to chart and illuminate its intellectual origins, diversity, goals and extraordinary vitality.

Ralph Nader: An Evening with Ralph Nader – “The Seventeen Traditions”

Legendary activist and best selling author, Ralph Nader has founded or organized more than 100 civic organizations. Nader is known for his lifetime of progressive activism and fearless critique of corruption in American politics, society, and business. Nader will feature his newest book, The Seventeen Traditions, as he looks back on a time in American history when the family and the natural world were central in a child’s understanding of how to be a conscientious adult.

Women’s Leadership: An Intergenerational Dialogue with Granny D
Saturday, March 31 @ 9:00 – 11:30 am in Creekside Room, Caleruega Hall
In celebration of Women’s History Month, this program brings you a morning of awareness and sharing as we bridge the “Generation Gap” between girls and their elders. Join us for an engaging dialogue with Doris "Granny D" Hadddock, 97 year old activist whose historic walk across the U.S., at the age of 89 for campaign finance reform, embodies civic engagement. We will explore how we can better understand and utilize the wisdom of women across all generations. Donations accepted at the door.

- One Book One Marin: Read – Discuss – Build Community
- 2007 selection: Daughter of Fortune
Isabel Allende and her novel Daughter of Fortune are the centerpiece of the first One Book One Marin award. Marin’s libraries, and its partners, invite all members of our community to read and discuss one book each year, encouraging community dialogue and awareness of important issues.
Daughter of Fortune, rich in historic detail for a pivotal period in California history, is filled with critical topics of our day including the status of women, diversity, multilingualism, immigration. One Book One Marin invites all Marin County to read the book and be part of the discussion through multiple events in libraries, book clubs, classrooms, coffee shops and bookstores around Marin, culminating in this evening’s discussion between Isabel Allende and Michael Krasny.

- Book Passage, Dominican University of California, Marin Education Fund and the Marin History Museum. This campus event cosponsored by Dominican Honor’s Program and Women and Gender Studies Program.
