Our Stories features interviews, profiles and news stories about our students, alumni and faculty. Our goal is to show you who we are at Dominican's School of Business and Leadership: We are talented and ambitious students, professional and inspiring faculty and staff, and passionate and successful alumni who are proud of their School. Zachary Davis

 

 

Zach Davis, an alumnus in the School of Business and Leadership, received an MBA in Sustainable Enterprise (Green MBA) in 2009. For his Capstone project he wrote a business plan for an organic ice cream shop in Santa Cruz, California. Once he graduated, he opened that very ice cream shop, The Penny Ice Creamery, which soon became famous due to great organic ice cream and a viral YouTube video that was seen by President Obama and Vice President Biden.

Michelle Mitra-medium

 

 

Michelle Mitra graduated with a BA in Business Administration, concentration in Accounting and a minor in Sports Management. In her senior year at Dominican she was recruited by Deloitte and she is now a Senior Tax Consultant at the firm.

While at Dominican, she was captain of the women's golf team, served as peer advisor to business students as well as a teaching assistant to incoming accounting students.

Rajeev Sooreea (170px)

 

 

Rajeev Sooreea is an inspiring new professor at the School of Business and Leadership. In this interview, he talks about his impressive academic background, his teaching philosophy, his love of teaching, and his research interests (for example, he's been recently invited to present at an international Conference in Vietnam in 2012). Most important, he discusses the value of teaching and studying International Business in today's globalized world, and answers questions about the financial crisis in the United States and the Greek debt crisis in Europe.

Upon Reed Profile Pic

 

 

Reed Upson is a 4+1 BA to MBA student in the School of Business and Leadership. He is scheduled to graduate in May of 2012 with a major in Business Administration, emphasis in finance, and a minor in leadership. Reed is also an extraordinary student athlete: He wears number 9 for Dominican’s NCAA Division II lacrosse team.

Currently, he’s attending Dominican, playing lacrosse and working part-time as a financial analyst for Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, one of the largest public relations companies in the world.

Heidi Garcia is a student in Dominican’s MBA in Global Management program. Prior to attending Dominican she has worked within different industries: She was a purchasing agent at Robert Mondavi Winery for 10 years; she worked for an organization that specialized in greeting cards; and she now works for Agilent Technologies, a high-tech, global business-to-business organization headquartered in Santa Clara, California.

Denise Lucy Story Picture

 

 

Dr. Denise Lucy, founder and Executive Director of the Institute for Leadership Studies at Dominican University of California, was inducted into the Marin Women’s Hall of Fame on March 19, 2011.

Denise is a professor in the School of Business and Leadership, an entrepreneur, and an inspiration to her students and fellow faculty members.

Her philosophy is simple: Education is the great equalizer in society.
