A hallmark of a Dominican education is the belief that the most important aspect of a quality education is the personal interaction between professor and student. A program of engaged learning builds on this premise, incorporating active, collaborative learning in the classroom with enriching educational experiences beyond the physical classroom. These high-impact practices actively engage students in the learning process, enhancing their experience with the content making the interaction personal and memorable.
Engaged learning is an area of distinction for Dominican. Study Abroad, internships, Leadership, and Undergraduate Research programs all interwoven with Dominican’s distinctive programs and Service-Learning initiatives offering students a multitude of outlets to better understand themselves and the world around them.
Dominican’s unique strategic objective is to ensure all graduating bachelor’s students have at least three engaged learning experiences by the year 2015.

Additionally, MBA students must complete a 4 unit Global Practicum as their final course of the MBA program. Our students engage with business leaders internationally when they embark on their Global Consulting Practicum. Student teams serve as consultants to overseas firms performing global business projects for clients in various countries. Students will be tasked with using their breadth of skills and entrepreneurial knowledge, examined and practiced in the MBA program, as they approach projects.
The Global Consulting Practicum concludes with a 10-day international study trip to meet with their clients. Through the planning and completion of the consulting projects, students strengthen their knowledge and insights related to the social, socio-cultural, political, economic, technological, environmental and legal factors that impact achieving competitive advantage and doing business in international markets. The multiple projects will relate to the MBA concentrations in global business, strategic leadership or sustainable enterprise.
