Department of Psychology
Our mission statement is the heart of our program. It states: "The Undergraduate Psychology Department at Dominican University of California is committed to providing a comprehensive, human-centered, and culturally sensitive foundation in the psychological sciences, inclusive of theory, research, and practice, in an atmosphere that models mutual respect and encourages individual challenge." Simply put, this means that the psychology department faculty care about what you learn in psychology, the atmosphere in which you learn, and helping you to develop your individual interests.
Our classes utilize a variety of formats, including seminars, lectures, experiential exercises and simulations, demonstrations, guided research, films, and occasionally, independent study, all of which are intended to stimulate active student participation in learning. The department provides a broad selection of fieldwork placements and specific research opportunities. We also assist students with research publications and conference presentations.
