  • Berkeley Roundtable on the International Economy is an interdisciplinary research project at U.C. Berkeley, and this site provides information on the organization and its publications, links, etc.
  • The Brookings Institution The goal of this private, independent, nonprofit research organization is to improve the effectiveness of government programs and the quality of U.S. public policy. It publishes its findings for the benefit of the public.
  • Bureau of Economic Analysis, an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce, provides links to data and articles on national, international, and regional aspects of the U.S. economy.
  • Douglass: Archives of American Public Address is an archive of American speeches and related documents that includes the text of nearly 100 speeches.
  • Foreign Policy in Focus offers a series of briefs on foreign policy issues and calls itself a "think tank without walls."
  • Global Legal International Network The Library of Congress sponsors this site, which contains guides to national and international law.
  • Indian Affairs: Laws and Treaties Oklahoma State University Library has digitized portions of this historical 7-volume set of U.S. treaties, laws, and executive orders pertaining to Native American Indian tribes.
  • International Affairs Resources The WWW Virtual Library provides over 2,000 annotated links to sites related to international affairs.
  • Government Publications and Maps: International Documents The Northwestern University Library provides links to government pages, maps, research guides, and more.
  • The Japanese Data Archive at the University of Connecticut's Roper Center offers databases of Japanese public opinion and other survey data.
  • Library of Congress Country Studies The online versions of these previously printed guides describe and analyze the political, economic, social, and national security systems and institutions of countries around the world. At this time, 101 countries and regions are covered.
  • Meeting of Frontiers Full of primary sources, this is a bilingual, multimedia English-Russian digital library that tells the story of the American exploration and settlement of the West, the parallel exploration and settlement of Siberia and the Russian Far East, and the meeting of the Russian-American frontier in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. The site is produced by the Library of Congress.
  • National Election Studies
  • Official California Legislative Information provides information about bills, California law, legislature, etc.
  • opensecrets.org is a product of the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonprofit research group based in Washington, D.C. The organization focuses on the role money plays in U.S. elections and politicians' actions.
  • Policy.com focuses on research, opinions, and events shaping public policy, including issues in education, technology and healthcare.
  • Project Vote Smart provides background information on and the voting records of over 13,000 political leaders, including federal and state officials.
  • Public Policy Institute of California provides reports on California's economy, politics, and social issues.
    Research Resources for the Social Sciences  An organized gateway to social science topics from political science to anthropology.
  • Supreme Court Collection, from the Legal Information Institute, contains an archive of opinions issued since 1990 as well as links to important historical decisions.
  • Survey Research Center  "Survey method applied to the study of social issues, consumer research, policy analysis."
  • The Thomas Jefferson Papers at the Library of Congress include correspondence, commonplace books, financial account books, and manuscript volumes. This is the largest collection of Jefferson's papers.
  • THOMAS: Legislative Information on the Internet, another Library of Congress site, provides up-to-date information on Congressional action.
  • University of Michigan Documents Center provides links to an array of social and political topics, from U.S. issues to international affairs.
  • The World Factbook 2000, from the CIA, provides concise profiles of countries and territories around the world, including sections on the economy, people, geography, military, etc.
