Leon & Sylvia Panetta Institute - Leadership Training & Congressional Internship
Panetta Institute Leadership Seminar:
The incoming President of Associated Students of Dominican University (ASDU) attends a 1-week seminar at Panetta Institute housed at CSU Monterey Bay. Invitees are incoming student body presidents of 23 CSU campuses, Dominican University of California and Santa Clara University.
Panetta Institute Congressional Internship Program:
Through a competitive selection process, one Dominican student leader is selected who is prepared and interested in serving our community, state and nation. The 1-semester program begins with a two-week orientation at the Panetta Institute at CSU Monterey Bay. Following the training and orientation, the Dominican student intern is placed at a congressional office in Washington D.C. where the student will work for the fall semester.
World Affairs Council
The Marin Chapter of the World Affairs Council (WAC) offers a series of monthy programs on the Dominican University of California campus, in the Creekside or Shield Room. Each month, from August through June, WAC presents a lecture on a specific world issue, e.g. War in Iraq, Energy Crisis, Palestine/Israeli conflict, etc. The evening starts with an optional dinner tied, if possible, to the theme or region of the evening. Dessert and program follow. There is a Q & A after the talk. Schedule and prices are below.

Leadership Lecture Series: U.S. Leaders
Former presidential candidates Al Gore, Ralph Nader, Bill Bradley, and former secretary of state Madeleine Albright were among the leaders from the world of politics to participate in Dominican’s popular Leadership Lecture Series in 2007 and 2008.
The series brings to Dominican some of the country’s most interesting and influential leaders. All lectures in the series are free and open to students and the public.
