Phi Alpha Delta

bestcrest72.jpgPhi Alpha Delta is the world's largest law fraternity, with over 265,000 members worldwide.  The Dominican University of California Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta was established under the leadership of Ms. Colleen Shorey in spring 2005 with 14 initiates, and it continues its growth with the increasing interest of students in the legal fields.  While Phi Alpha Delta focuses primarily on law school endeavors, students from a variety of fields have joined because of their interest in the law with no specific intent to go to law school.  Phi Alpha Delta focuses on serving the profession, school, student, and community.

P.A.D.'s Pre-Law Program resulted from extensive P.A.D. sponsored research and surveys which demonstrated that no national organization was effectively addressing the needs of pre-law students. When the results of P.A.D.'s research was presented to law students, attorneys, and judges on the floor of the 1980 P.A.D. International Convention in Hot Springs, Arkansas, it was decided that Phi Alpha Delta would accept the challenge to better equip pre-law students for the rigors of law school and the legal profession.

The fundamental objective of P.A.D.'s Pre-Law Program is to assist undergraduate students to make an "informed choice" in selecting law as a career, deciding which law school to attend, and in preparing for the rigors of law school. Phi Alpha Delta remains the only Law Fraternity and the only national legal organization of any kind with a national Pre-Law Program committed to meeting the needs of undergraduate students interested in the law.

Phi Alpha Delta members must be in good academic standing, pay a one time fee of $70, and submit a membership application.  Members will pay dues which shall not exceed $20.  Membership in Phi Alpha Delta includes: Recognition at Graduation; a Phi Alpha Delta pin, CD, and Membership card useful for discounts on books, car rentals, car insurance, and more; and a Phi Alpha Delta Certificate of Membership.  Members will also have access to Pre-Law activities, including law school visits, law school forums, practice LSATs, and the Phi Alpha Delta international conference in Washington, DC.greatseal.jpg
