Placement

Incoming students with no prior grade of C or higher in a course considered equivalent to Dominican's GE Writing Courses must take an online placement test through our Academic Support Center. (Please see the Catalog for information about AP Credit and Placement in English).

The results of this test determine student placement in the Development and General Education Composition Courses.

Questions about your placement?

If you feel that your score on the test does not reflect your strengths as a writer, you may retake it to ensure an accurate score. Students who do very well on the placement test and have transfer credit in English Composition may be able to place out of university writing courses at Dominican, or may be eligible to take their English university writing course as an Honors Class with the permission of the Honors Director. Ask your advisor for more details.
