Studying Art History

Studying art history is exciting and enriching. From ancient to modern times and in all areas of the world, people have expressed their cultural diversity, values, and concerns through their works of visual art. The study of art history is an eye-opening experience. If you enjoy looking at and thinking about art, by studying art history you can get a degree in an important, stimulating and culturally diverse field.

Art history is interdisciplinary so you will gain knowledge in a wide variety of fields. Art historians make use of other documents and literary works when analyzing art works, and as a result you will gain experience in other disciplines. In order to interpret a work of art, you need to understand the history and culture of the period in which it was made. The study of the history of art offers opportunities to explore a wide range of fields in the humanities.

Art history is excellent preparation for many careers.
