Little Rock Nine

Melba Beals, chair of the Department of Communications, talks with the San Jose Mercury News about her experiences as a member of the Little Rock Nine, the nine African-American teenagers who 50 years ago advanced the civil rights movement with the integration of Little Rock Central High School. Among the media outlets covering the 50th anniversary celebrations, hosted by President Clinton in Little Rock, were the BBC,  CNN, ABC, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal.
