About the Department

Clear communication, public speaking, and writing with clarity and authority are requirements for success in any professional field. The Department of Communications offers a bachelor’s degree in communications with concentrations in print media, broadcast media, and cinema. The department also offers a communications minor.

Whether you imagine yourself as a newspaper reporter, a political campaign strategist, a radio announcer, a television producer, or a documentary film writer, the Department of Communications has faculty and classes that prepare students for exciting careers in the dynamic media industry. Our students are taught by instructors with strong academic preparation and professional experience in their fields.

Communications majors are able to hone their skills as reporters, editors, photographers and advertising sales representatives through hands-on participation in student media, including Dominican's award-winning Internet radio station, the student-run newspaper The Habit, and creative student film productions.
Graduates of Dominican's Communications program are working as radio and television broadcasters, print and broadcast reporters, film and TV producers, corporate communicators and public relations experts, among many others.
