Dr. Gokcek joined the department in fall 2006. She is the department advisor for Pi Sigma Alpha (Political Science Honor Society) and the 2012 Teacher of the Year - Dominican University of California.

Teaching and Research Interests
Dr. Gokcek teaches a variety of courses including United States Foreign Policy, Politics of the Middle East, Political Development and Politics of Developing Countries. Her research concerns the internationalization of ethno-religious conflict, irredentist and secessionist movements, pedagogy in political science, and international education. Her publications can be found in: International Journal of Public Policy, Journal of Political Science Education, Nationalism and Ethnic Politics, and Security Studies.
