The Department of Political Science and International Studies has a dedicated and varied full-time and part-time faculty with unique academic and professional backgrounds. We strive to give our students the kind of practical knowledge that can be used in both academic and professional settings.
One way we do this is by hiring faculty who have both academic and professional experience in their area of expertise. For example, we have practicing attorneys teaching many of our law courses, a local elected official teaching state and local politics, and a retired foreign service officer teaching diplomacy and Model United Nations.
Our faculty have active research agendas in the areas of political theory, international relations, and American politics and also work closely with students who wish to pursue research agendas and present papers at academic conferences.
