No Drunken Frenzy - Kimberly Satterfield

Chatter of cedar waxwings

is shrill this morning.

Must be fifty

crested visitors,

scarlet-russet-gold breasts

glint iridescent.

In the curves

of this February

full moon day

birds are agitated-

pyracantha berries

are scarce.

Many frozen days

rains this winter

have spoiled their party.

No drunken frenzy

this year.

A fat calico cat

wide eyed

fur fluttering

sits just out of sight

hoping.
