Congratulations to Alpha Lambda Delta for celebrating her 90th anniversary this year of 2014!
Alpha Lambda Delta was formed in 1924 to acknowledge full-time first year students who earn a grade point average of 3.5 or better during their first full year of college or during their first semester of college. Only the top twenty percent of the first-year students from their entering class are eligible for this honor. For this year (2013-2014) of inductees, Dominican students in the top 20% have a minimum GPA of 3.78! Way to go Penguins!
There is a lifetime induction fee of $50 which covers national dues, lapel pin, membership certificate, and local chapter dues through your senior year. Members will also receive Alpha Lambda Delta honor cords to wear at their graduation commencement ceremony.
Students are invited to join once their first semester of college performance has been evaluated. Each year we hold an induction ceremony to acknowledge this academic achievement, which we hope will be the first of many.
For this Spring 2014, the induction ceremony will take place at 4:30pm on Friday, April 11th, 2014. The ceremony and festivities will be held at the Guzman Lecture Hall on campus (click here for directions). Students who accept new membership into this honor society are encouraged to attend and are welcome to invite as many guests as they like. For students invited to join, your deadline to join is February 28th. Please RSVP with Christina Mayes.
For the Spring 2014 induction ceremony, Dominican's Dean of Students, Paul Raccanello, will be our Keynote Speaker! This will certainly be an event to remember.
