If you are an incoming first-year student, you may want to know more about the courses you will be taking during your first year as well as other various campus programs that may help you navigate your Dominican experience.

First-Year Experience (FYE) Big History Courses

Learn about our First-Year program for incoming freshmen (undergraduate day students transferring in 15 college units or less).

General Education (GE) Requirements

Our diverse General Education program is the foundation of your Liberal Arts degree here at Dominican.  

Vision Quest: A Program of Exploration

If coming in as an Undeclared, Exploring Student, or you have a selected program of interest, but want to learn more about major, minor, and other program possibilities, this could be the ideal experience for you.

Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society

First-Year undergraduate day students who meet at least a 3.5 minimum GPA in their first semester AND are also in the top 20% of their entering class, may qualify to be inducted into our Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. 

Academic Mentorship Program (AMP)

AMP is a Spring Only Program. All undergraduate students are welcome to register for EDUC 1002.1 (0.5 unit) to receive one-on-one weekly academic mentoring from a graduate student at Dominican. 

First-Generation Peer Mentorship Program

If you are the first in your family to complete a 4-year degree and would like additional support and guidance with your transition in and out of college, this community of students, staff, and faculty, may be just what you and your family need.
