Academic Scholars

The Dominican Academic Scholars program was established to honor students who have demonstrated high academic achievement in scholarship, research, or creative activity.

Students can become Academic Scholars through either faculty nomination, excellence in the Academic Showcase poster presentations. (Students from all classes and all disciplines are eligible.)

Past Dominican Academic Scholars and their faculty mentors have been honored at an annual dinner hosted by the President, Executive Vice President and Provost.

		2011 Academic Scholars This year Dominican University of California honored 39 Academic Scholars. Among them was Sydney Lewis, Dominican Humanities student. Professor Thomas Burke (picture left) was Sydney's mentor.
		2010 Academic Scholars Dominican University of California honored 39 exceptional students in 2010. Among them was Anna DaCosta, Dominican Psychology students (picture right.) Anna's mentor, Professor Gail Matthews, is on the left.
		2009 Academic Scholars Thirty-one Undergraduate, Graduate and Pathways students earned the title of Academic Scholar in 2009. Among them was Occupational Therapy student, Jordan Olenberger. His mentor, Professor Ruth Ramsey, came to support him.
		2008 Academic Scholars In 2008, 29 Dominican students were honored as Academic Scholars. Among them was talented Mathematics and Natural Sciences student Jeremy Krames who was accompanied by his mentor, Professor Vania Coelho.
		2007 Academic Scholars Twenty-three exceptional Dominican students were honored as Academic Scholars in 2007. MS in Counseling Psychology Master student, Katherine Leonard, was one of those students. Professor Robin Gayle (picture left), her mentor, accompanied her to the ceremony.
