About the President's Council
Purpose
The President's Council has three primary goals:
1. Communication
Members of the President's Council:
- Actively engage friends and associates in understanding and supporting the University's mission
- Are committed to raising the consciousness of businesses and corporations about the educational expertise of Dominican and the quality of its graduates
- Are encouraged and expected to invite guests to University events and informational meetings
2. Fundraising
Members of the President's Council:
- Assist in bringing financial support to the University through personal contacts and introductions to interested parties
- Recruit prospects for the University's Community Circle (individuals and businesses that make a gift of $1,000 or more to the Annual Fund)
- Make a personal financial commitment of at least $1,000 annually
3. Student Recruitment and Retention
Members of the President's Council:
- Provide information about Dominican's programs, admissions procedures, and financial aid opportunities to prospective students, parents, and employers
- Create internships within their businesses and business contact network for Dominican students
- Assist graduates in their search for employment by providing referrals and letters or calls of reference
Meeting Schedule
There are four regular and four executive committee meetings held annually in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. The dates, times, and specific locations of meetings are determined by the President’s Council Executive Committee. Meetings of the President’s Council are typically held at Dominican’s campus in San Rafael.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee consists of the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, a minimum of five additional President’s Council members, and the Vice President for Institutional Advancement. The Chair of the President’s Council is the Chair of the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee meets between regularly scheduled meetings as needed, but meets a minimum of three times per year. The Executive Committee continually assesses and appraises the council’s organization, operations, membership and attendance in order to assure maximum effectiveness.
