Learn More About the Field of Dreams
Unchanged for many years, Dominican University of California's existing athletic field falls far short of the challenges posed by increasingly sophisticated and complex athletic programs, as well as the reasonable expectations of current and prospective students and families.
Under the leadership of President Joseph R. Fink, Dominican's Board of Trustees has determined that improving the University's outdoor athletic facilities is one of the institution's top capital priorities. The University is proposing the funding, construction, and ongoing maintenance of a new synethetic turf athletic field that will position Dominican to meet the requirements for possible admission to NCAA II, the next level of athletic competition.
Welcome to Dominican's "Field of Dreams." The proposed athletic field will measure 110,025 square feet and will include an artificial grass softball field, a multi-use artificial grass field carrying lines and markings for soccer and lacrosse, inlaid lines and markings for two synthetic turf volleyball courts, and a 90-space parking lot. New concession stand and restroom facilities are also planned. Site furnishings will include a scoreboard, bullpen, batting cage, dugouts, and bleachers seating approximately 500.
The new synthetic field will require little or no maintenance and can be used safely year-round. The durability of the materials that have been chosen for the field will give it a lifespan of between 10-12 years under normal use.
Our vision is "years of productive play for better people, a better University, and a better community."
Our mission is "to build it."
