Dominican University of California is planning to build a new 110,000 square foot outdoor athletic complex in preparation for its move to NCAA II in September 2009. Project news and updates follow:
| Calling All Penguin Parents |
Warren and Wendy Grande have seen their daughter blossom through involvement in Penguin Athletics. They want the same experiences for other Dominican student-athletes.
"Ever since they could walk, our daughters have been involved in sports. Along with the benefits of maintaining an active lifestyle, our girls have gained so many experiences from their years of participation in school and community athletic programs. What they've learned goes beyond rules and technique: balancing a demanding schedule of school work, sports, and social activities; coaching and being coached; focusing on team goals; learning to look at situations from a variety different perspectives. We're proud to know that the same values that have contributed to our daughters' success on the court and in the field will serve them well as respected, productive leaders in the workplace and within their circle of family and friends.
Just as those before us helped make the Penguin Athletics experience richer for our daughter Lorel, we know that our support of the Field of Dreams will realize these same benefits for future Dominican students."

Tickets for the Dominican Car Raffle are on sale and cost just $20. The grand prize is a Honda Fit Sport with navigation or $10,000 cash. The drawing will take place at the conclusion of Commencement on Saturday, May 16, 2009. Additional early bird cash prize drawings will take place on Friday, February 27; Monday, April 20; and Saturday, April 25. Net proceeds benefit Dominican's Field of Dreams campaign. | Dominican Prepares for Pac West Play |
Dominican University of California will join the Pac West Conference of NCAA II in Fall 2009. With this transition to the next level of athletic competition, Dominican joins Pac West Conference schools: Academy of Art, BYU Hawaii, Chaminade, Dixie State, Grand Canyon, Hawaii Hilo, Hawaii Pacific, and Notre Dame de Namur. Current men's conference sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf and soccer. Current women's conference sports include basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. Dominican's Field of Dreams will ensure that the University meets minimum specifications for NCAA regular and post-season play.
