What is the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund supports excellence at Dominican by providing a dependable and growing stream of revenue that is nourished by gifts from alumni, parents, and friends of the University. You can designate how your donation will be spent: on academic programs, athletics, scholarships, or student life. You can also give an unrestricted gift, which will be applied to the University's area of greatest need.
The key to a successful Annual Fund is a broad base of participation. Your gift, in any amount, is vital to ensuring Dominican's bright future.
Why give to the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund is the backbone of Dominican's fundraising efforts. Without generous annual support for scholarships, programming, and other needs, the University would not be able to evolve as one of Northern California's top private institutions of higher education.
Foundations and other organizations view alumni participation in fundraising as an indicator of a University's overall quality. A high participation rate positively impacts Dominican's reputation and its ability to secure grants.
What initiatives does your Annual Fund gift support?
- Scholarships contributed to by the Annual Fund are granted to over 80 percent of Dominican's undergraduate students
- Academic programs like undergraduate research and interdisciplinary studies keep Dominican on the forefront of higher education
- An ambitious vision for both varsity and intramural athletics is improving campus life and community relations
- Student life is becoming more vibrant through an array of extracurricular activities sponsored by ASDU and Campus Ministry
How does Dominican spend the money you donate?
A modern university has many needs, and Dominican spends millions of dollars each year to provide students with a premium education. Here is an illustration of how an Annual Fund gift in support of academic programs might be used:- Your gift of $100 covers the cost of one research dissection kit
- Your gift of $250 covers the cost of enzymes for cancer research
- Your gift of $500 covers the cost of a research-quality camera for digital imaging
- Your gift of $1,000 covers the cost of software for protein and DNA sequencing
