Parents Council
Dear Dominican Parents:
The Parents Council gives parents of Dominican students the opportunity for direct interaction with staff, students, and administrators. There is no "membership" as such. Nor do we elect officers. All parents are welcome to attend and participate in our monthly meetings which take place at 4:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month. (Read the minutes of the last Parents Council meeting.)
We realize that many parents cannot participate due to distance and work schedules; however, you still have the opportunity to provide input. A voice mailbox is available at 415-257-0149 for your concerns or suggestions. We return calls as soon as we can and pledge to deal with your questions at our next meeting -- sooner if you have an urgent need for our attention and advocacy.
Parents who actively participate in the monthly meetings have a unique platform from which to study and influence the quality of campus life here at the university. In recent years we have:
- Brought to the attention of administrators issues we felt were important to parents including campus safety, food service, and dorm life
- Participated in various university events, such as prospective student information days and move-in orientation days
- Lent support to key initiatives, such as drug and alcohol abuse prevention
As parents, we collectively support our students and administration and make recommendations for any improvements we consider necessary for enhancement of the University’s service to the campus community. We represent not only ourselves and our individual students but every parent who has a student attending the University, whether living on or off campus.
