Post-Award Assistance

Contract Submission and Budget Revision

Award notification is individual to each agency.  A small foundation may call if the news is good.  Larger foundations and government agencies are more likely to send an email if it was an on-line submission or a notification letter and grant agreement.  As most proposals submitted by Dominican faculty and staff are sent under the signature of Joseph Fink, President, or Kenneth Porada, Provost, written notification may be sent to the President’s or Provost's office.  The required paperwork will be forwarded to ORSP for acknowledgment and processing.  As a project director or Prinicipal Investigator (PI), your signature will be required. If partial funding is awarded, you will have to submit a revised budget to reflect the impact of reduced support.

Reporting Requirements

Reporting requirements are also individual to each agency.  Most require an interim report (or reports depending upon the length of the grant period) and a final report.  Reports include a narrative statement about project activity and financial accounting for the report period.  ORSP and Business Services can assist you in tracking report deadlines and the preparation of these documents.   As with proposal submission, most reports are submitted with a cover letter from the President or the Provost, unless you are submitting an on-line report.

The quality of the reports submitted is an integral piece of a successful grant.  It builds a relationship with a funder that supports future requests.  Communication is very important.  Even if there are no required interim reports, a brief (program officers are as inundated with paperwork as we are!) six month update is a courtesy – particularly if there are any unexpected changes and/or implementation problems.  Funding agencies are usually flexible, if they are given early notice of any concerns.
