Parking Permit Form
Question: What is the new permit parking plan?
Answer: All faculty, staff, and non-resident students vehicles must display a parking permit to use campus parking lots and curbside parking on streets within the campus area, including Magnolia and Acacia Avenues. The lot next to Angelico Hall is reserved for use only by faculty and staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Question: What is the cost of the permit?
Answer: Faculty and staff are issued a permit at no charge when showing proof of employment at Dominican. (Dominican ID, class roster and driver’s license are acceptable.)
Question: Do I need a permit to park in the main Grand Avenue lot?
Answer: No permit is required to park in the Grand Avenue lot located at the Conlan Recreation Center. This 215-space lot is open to all student, faculty, staff and guests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with or without a permit.
Question: What about the curbside parking on Palm and Olive Avenues?
Answer: The City of San Rafael has agreed to reserve parking on these streets for neighborhood residents only. Reserved parking signs will be posted to designate these areas.
Question: Where should guests park besides the Grand Avenue lot?
Answer: There are marked spaces reserved for guests located on Acacia Avenue. Offices of Dominican University Vice Presidents issue Guest Permits in advance or upon guests’ arrival. These special permits allow guests to park temporarily for the date and time specified on the permit.
Question: What does the permit look like and how do I display it?
Answer: The permit is approximately 2 ½” by 1 ½” and made of static vinyl. The permit parking stickers are color coded for faculty/staff and students. Student permits change color annually. Stickers must be displayed on the lower corner of the passenger side of the back window.
Question: For how long are they valid?
Answer: Faculty and staff permits are retired when employment at Dominican ceases or terminates.
Question: How will the policy be enforced?
Answer: Vehicles in violation will be tagged and are subject to towing. Permits can also be revoked at the discretion of Campus Security as a consequence of repeat violations or abuse.
