Remote Access

Dominican uses a completely new VPN based (Virtual Private Networking) remote access system.  This new system will replace all the previous systems people used.  So instead of having multiple URLs  (mail.dominican.edu, inside.dominican.edu, duclink.dominican.edu), all remote access to Dominican will go through the following single url:

https://VPN.Dominican.edu

Please note the 'S' in the above URL.  The S stands for secure and means that data is encrypted, and thus more secure, when travelling over the internet.

To access the new system you must have a valid Dominican user ID and password.  If you do not have your user ID or password, please call the Help Desk at x0123 for help.

!!!!  A special note for Mac Users !!!!

If you are remotely accessing e-mail and attempting to open an attachment, there is a little 'trick' to do this.  You must hold the CONTROL button (on the bottom left) and click on the link to open the attachment.  Then select the option to 'Open Link in New Window'.  You will then see the attachment.
Systems That Are Accessible

  • E-Mail - You will be able to access e-mail, your calendar and contacts.
  • Intranet - You will be able to access this Intranet site.
  • DUCLink - You will have full access to DUCLink.
  • DATAWORKER - You can access your H drive as well as your department folders.
  • SNAPSERVER - Those people who use the SNAPSERVER can get read access to this system.  Please make a request at the Online Help Desk if you need remote access to the SNAPSERVER.

Future Systems - As we add new web based systems they will all be available through this new Remote Access system.
