Undergraduate Admissions Counselor or Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions

Dominican University of California is seeking a dynamic individual for an Undergraduate Admissions Counselor or Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions position. As part of an established and successful undergraduate recruitment team, this position will promote the value of a Dominican education and work to recruit, evaluate, and admit freshman and transfer students to the University to help meet recruitment goals. There are two positions available.


  • Coordinate all aspects of recruitment travel including scheduling, transportation, and accommodations
  • Evening and weekend hours will be required throughout the year in addition to extensive overnight travel 
  • Assist in coordination of recruitment events such as open houses and receptions
  • Attend recruitment events on and off campus to interact with prospective students
  • Represent and recruit students for Dominican at community college and high school college fairs and transfer days
  • Establish a relationship with prospective students and their families through telephone, email, and mail contact, interviews, events, etc
  • Conduct admission interviews and tours, arrange for classroom visits, and give presentations to prospective students and groups
  • Review, maintain and follow up on student files including transcripts, test scores, essays, applications, and letters of recommendation for evaluation purposes
  • Maintain relationship with high school and college counselors
  • Enter and track information in database to manage territory specific recruitment
  • Meet regularly with supervisor and team members to ensure clear communication within the office
  • Participate in and lead ongoing admissions office projects such as student ambassadors, campus events, alumni programs, publications, electronic recruitment, promotional items, etc
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
  • Two years experience in an academic recruitment environment
  • Ability to work independently and manage timelines in deadline driven environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data for recruitment metrics
  • Proven ability to deliver presentations to diverse constituencies
  • Proficient computer literacy
  • Project and event management skills
  • Current driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required and must be maintained
  • Must be willing to consent to background investigation
  • Must be able to rent automobiles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous admissions experience in an College or University setting

Additional Position Information

  • Position offered, Assistant Director or Counselor, will be dependent upon experience
