Assistant Professor of Nursing, Medical-Surgical

Dominican University of California is seeking to fill a full-time (9 month), tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Nursing, School of Health and Natural Sciences. This position commences in Fall 2015. The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will include undergraduate teaching in the area of Medical-Surgical Nursing. Tenure and promotion requirements for tenure-track faculty include teaching, scholarship, and service. Opportunities exist for research and teaching collaboration within the School of Health and Natural Sciences. The Department of Nursing, BRN and CCNE accredited, offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Nursing is the largest program on campus, and is comprised of a very diverse student population. Many students are first generation college educated.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate nursing classes
  • Advise students
  • Participate in curriculum development and evaluation
  • Participate in departmental committees
  • Supervise student theses/senior projects
  • Contribute to the department and his/her professional field through research, publications and service

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree required, along with a Masters degree in Nursing 
  • Must have a current California  RN license
  • Recent clinical experience and ability to teach  medical-surgical nursing 
  • Prior college level teaching experience is highly preferred
