Assistant/Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy

Dominican University of California is seeking dynamic candidates for two 9-month, full-time tenure-track faculty positions beginning in August 2015. Candidates should have 3-5 years of clinical and academic experience, an earned post-professional doctoral degree, and potential for scholarly and research endeavors. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in their area of expertise and across the curriculum, advise students, mentor capstone projects, maintain an active scholarly agenda, and engage in department and university service. We are also seeking candidates with leadership and administrative experience for an assistant director position. The occupational therapy department offers two academic tracks: a five-year BS/MS track and a three-year entry-level master’s track. Our curriculum design emphasizes psychosocial aspects of occupation, community-focused practice, and wellness and health promotion. We are seeking individuals who are committed to excellence and innovation in teaching, scholarship, and practice, and who function well as part of a team. In summer of 2015, the occupational therapy program will move into the historic and newly renovated “Meadowlands” Building, which will include three state of the art occupational therapy skills labs, a research lab, and other innovative instructional spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate OT classes across the curriculum
  • Participate in curriculum development and departmental governance
  • Contribute to the department through research, publication and service
  • Maintain an active agenda of scholarship and research
  • Contribute to the university through participation on faculty committees, attendance at university functions

Qualifications

  • Post-professional doctoral degree in occupational therapy or related field
  • Prior college level teaching experience preferred
  • Leadership and administrative experience (for Associate Professor position only)

  • Must be eligible for and obtain a California occupational therapy license
