Hello Dominican! My name is Victoria Danielle Rivera and I am originally from Los Angeles, but I consider San Rafael and Dominican my new home. I recently celebrated my 20th birthday the only way I know how to...traveling abroad! This year will be my third year at DU. I am an Occupational Therapy student and will also receive a minor in Psychology. I have been involved with numerous leadership positions since my freshman year at Dominican. I knew that I wanted a spot within our student government before I even stepped foot on campus. I had the privilege of serving as Freshman Class Rep and had the position transition into Sophomore Class Rep the following year. I have also been a Student Ambassador for the past two years and look forward to continue with the program this year as well. I am also President of the Latino Cultural Club and I'm excited for upcoming events that are being planned for the upcoming school year.
This year, I will serve as Community Outreach Rep for ASDU. I enjoy organizing events, but I mostly enjoy seeing Dominican students attend and participate in the events that are hosted by ASDU. I hope to meet new students and to see more enthusiasm and school pride coming from the incoming freshman class.
For the 2008-2009 school year, I plan on directing a performance/showcase that incorporates religion and the social issues surrounding college students our age. I'm ready to start a fresh new year with great ideas that will be implemented throughout the school year. I believe that the upcoming ASDU committee will be one that has not been seen on our campus in the past - "This place changes people"....and with that, our school is about to see some big (and positive) changes for the 2008-2009 school year.
