Financial Aid, Work, Work Study
Why Isn't Financial Aid Posted To My Account?
It's possible that the student has failed to sign and return his/her award letter. Or it's possible that the student neglected to sign a promissory note after signing and returning the award letter. Please ask the student to remember if he/she did those things. Refer students to the Financial Aid Office in Bertrand Hall if they think they have completed the necessary steps for financial aid.
Book Advances - Do I Qualify For One?
Students seeking a Book Advance must complete a Book Advance Repayment Agreement. This agreement asks a student to verify the number of units he/she is registered for in the current semester, if an award letter has been signed and returned to the University, that pending financial aid exceeds tuition and fees for the semester and that the tuition account is current. The terms of the agreement are also set forth on this documentation. The maximum advance amounts are $1,000.00 for Nursing program students and $750.00 for all other students. There is a $10.00 for processing this request. Any request received before Tuesday noon will be mailed by Friday noon.
Book advances are available two weeks prior to the start of a new semester and are offered through the first four weeks of the start of a new semester. Book Advance Repayment Agreement forms are available in the Business Services Office on the first floor of Bertrand Hall Room 103. If you have questions please stop by or call our office at 415-257-0161.
Refund Check - I Have Not Received It
Refunds for student tuition accounts are issued on a weekly basis starting on the 2nd Friday of the term. If a student has a credit balance on their account, they may be eligible for a refund. Credit balances can exist because of overpayment on a tuition account, excess financial aid or the reversal of charges after a payment was made. There are times when a credit balance exists but a refund has not been issued. This can occur if a student has a unit discrepancy or because the student has given written instructions to Dominican University of California to hold excess financial aid. If a student is anticipating a refund but not all of their financial aid has been credited to their account they will not be eligible for a refund until the money is on their student account, but they can request a book advance (please refer to the section regarding book advances for more information on this). If the student pays for tuition and fees with a credit card, the refund is credited to that credit card. If you have questions please stop by or call our office at 415-257-0161.

Work-Study: I Have It, How Do Sign Up For An On-Campus Job To Earn Work-Study Dollars?
The federal government requires Dominican University of California to spend part of its work study allocation for students who work off campus at an approved non-profit agency. Many of those agencies are involved in reading and tutoring programs, so they are ideal for students. Financial Aid is overseeing work study funds and employment.
