Career & Internship Fair
A one-day event, usually in fall semester, where employers and students can talk informally with each other and students can gain valuable information about jobs, internships, the company or organization and the industry. Some employers will accept resumes and screen applicants on-site! Use this opportunity to connect with a variety of organizations from business, non-profit, and government for jobs, internships, networking, and career information.
Self-Assessment/Career Exploration:
In this workshop, we will discuss how interests, values, personality (preference), and skills affect the type of job and work environment best suited to the job seeker. Career instruments such as the Strong Interest Inventory (SII), Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator, SkillScan, and values inventories may be administered and interpreted as needed. You can also obtain access to FOCUS, a self-paced, online career guidance tool will can assist you in the career planning process. Handouts provided.
Values Identification and Clarification:
Most individuals do not leave their jobs because of salary, but rather because their life and work values are not in congruence with those of the employer or organization. Knowing your values can help you find a better fit in the work environment, leading to greater job satisfaction. Handouts provided.
Is Graduate School for You?: A Panel of Experts
Is graduate school for you? Don’t miss an informative discussion of panelists from graduate schools who will discuss what you need to know before you apply. Speakers will also highlight the important components needed to apply to graduate school. It will include information about choosing a school/program, letters of recommendation, the personal essay, standardized graduate exams (GRE, MCAT, LSAT, etc.), funding graduate school, and the application process. Handouts provided.
Professional/Effective Resumes:
This workshop will present a step-by-step approach to creating resumes that are relevant to the position you seek, succinct and clear—all that an employer looks for!!! Follow-up help on individual resumes is available. Handouts provided.
Interviewing with Confidence:
Learn the 4 “P”s of interviewing—preparation, practice, presentation, and perseverance. Prepare to answer questions effectively by identifying your skills using the SAR (Situation, Action, Result) method. Frequently asked questions will be reviewed and discussed. Tips on presentation, body language, and dressing for success will be covered. Mock interviews can also be set up on an individual basis. Handouts provided.
Senior Job Search Strategies Seminar:
Don’t miss your chance to come away with the essential tools in order to launch a successful job search. Topics include:

- Job search strategies—Learn about the variety of job search resources including internet sites. Receive valuable information on developing a network and informational interviewing. Learn to research employers, locate salary information, and respond to job opportunities on the WEB. Handouts provided.
